The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Marilyn Carol Alexander-Gorski can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Marilyn-a great business colleague and an even greater friend!

I returned to the Ottawa Valley to lease a tourist attraction, the same one that I had worked at and left to go out into the world 13 years prior. One of the first business colleagues I made was a nice lady from the Pembroke Best Western who came to me and said she wanted to take some photographs of this business so that she could put them up at the hotel. She explained to this “green behind the ears” lad that when people come to the valley they don’t come to sleep in her beds but rather come to experience the activities that abound in the valley and she benefits because at the end of a tiring day people have to sleep. She was ahead of the times. I learned from her that day and did not quit learning from her over the last 21 years when our business relationship would grow and as much as I valued that business relationship it was our growing friendship that I cherished even more. Marilyn taught us to look at the big picture and figure out how we all fit into it for the collective benefit of the Ottawa Valley. She was outspoken in her love of what she did and what she represented and that was that people who live here and people who come here to visit deserve the best customer service possible and by giving that service we all benefit, young and old entrepreneurs alike. She was quick to give a motivating compliment, which I will miss. She was quick to show affection, which I will miss. She shared her ideas and listened intently to yours and respected the opinions of others, which I will miss. There is a hole left in the Ottawa Valley this week but because of the leadership that Marilyn displayed to us all we will fill that hole. Marilyn was a true friend.
