A Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario, died in Pembroke on the 28th day of June, 2017 in the 64th year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her Religious Community, devoted nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Corinne (Monforton) and her sister, Theresa Lassaline, she was born on August 14, 1927, in River Canard, Ontario. Graduating from Normal School, she taught for seven years at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Windsor. Marie Anne entered the Community on September 8, 1953, pronouncing final vows on August 4, 1958. Continuing her teaching career, she served in various areas as Principal, including at St. George and St. Brigid Schools, Ottawa, St. John the Evangelist, Whitby, and Holy Redeemer School, Pickering. She also taught French at Immaculata High School, Ottawa. Later, graduating with a Certificate in Pastoral Education (C.P.E.), Marie Anne was employed at Director of Pastoral Care at the Penetanguishene General Hospital for nine years, followed by a Pastoral Associate Position at Nativity Parish, Timmins. Other areas of service included work with the "Woman's Journey" program at Galilee, Arnprior, and at St. Patrick's Home as a volunteer in Pastoral Care. Her final years were lived peacefully at Shalom Residence, Pembroke. Visitation at Caritas Residence, 215 Deacon Street, Pembroke, on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in the Caritas Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Columba Cemetery.
